In my experience, visions have come in pieces I have to put together. Like a puzzle.. you get to see a quick snap shot of what IT is and then the HOW comes together with each step you take.
For instance, when I set out to create yumbitz - God started by putting a desire in me in 2005 to create Krumby Yummies. Actually that was when I really started paying attention. Cause when I look back, it was not the first time... in 1995 when I first started dating. The mission to create the tastiest chocolate chip cookie was birthed in me. It was all because I wanted to do something that my boyfriend's mother could not. You see, she was great at everything or so he told me. :) No, but in all seriousness, she is pretty "awe" some and I love her, however, I was really jealous of all the glory he gave to her. And I had to find something to be good at that she wasn't, and that was baking cookies:) DING!
I was really good at baking and loved to make cookies. Milk chocolate chip cookies were my specialty. They were the perfect combination of crunch on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. With mounds and valleys of chocolate. YUMMY! So, I invited him over to my house to bake together. I really wanted to show off my skills. He was very impressed, even called his Mom to tell her all about it. (I was smiling ear to ear) Mission complete. Or so I thought...
They then became my signature. Everywhere I went, I brought cookies. I was invited to dinner at someone's house, I'd bring cookies. Church events, I'd bring cookies. Bookstudies- they became known as "Bathsheba bites" (for those of you who are not familiar Bathseba was known as a manipulative seductress from the bible) very fitting ;) Monica and cookies -were one in the same.
This planted a seed in my heart to one day own my own cookie company, Krumby Yummies. I thought I thought I was being clever with the name. Krumby cause the natural effect of cookies are crumbs and cause cookies are considered a junk food, so therefore, Krumby. But they indeed OH SO YUMMY. Hence the name, Krumby Yummies.
I would doodle cows and the letters KY to come up with different versions of a logo. I searched up the name Krumbie Yummies and was discouraged cause someone else had already taken it. That's where most people stop and give up on their dream entirely. They they think to themselves, "it's already been done." Yes, cookies have been done by MANY different people, and yes there was already a bakery called Krumby Yummies however, the desire was still planted in my heart. If I'm honest with myself, I just stopped watering it. I still desired it, HOWEVER, I got stuck in the HOW. I had no idea how I could ever? and who would pay for my cookies?? What do I know about starting a cookie company? There are so many others who already make cookies. Why would someone want to buy mine?
I did not give up, but rather I just gave in. That was until the Universe had other plans. When David lost his job in 2009, we decided to go for it! Bring that dream to life! Give yumbitz a chance. We had already hit rock bottom. We had nothing left to loose so we took a "leap of faith" just as God had asked us to do once before. He was faithful and true with that Dream, blessing us with our baby girl named Karly, we believed he'd do the same with this one too.
